The English Amazon Prime Show

Season 1

Episode Number 3 Preview And Review

Episode 3 of the English film begins in Hoxham, in the garden of the Flynn family. Timothy Flynn points his gun at his wife and she walks away from him. He shoots her and then kills himself.

Billy Myers is worried about the death of Timothy, with whom he served in the army. He approaches Sheriff Robert Marshall to ask if they found any marks on Timothy’s body, but doesn’t explain why.

All day Martha Myers is frustrated that she can’t find Billy. He alone should deal with the problem of cattle theft. He encounters Thomas Trafford and his men, who know that these cattle are theirs. But they claim to follow the law. Unbranded cattle become the property of the Stockholders Association.

Trafford then warns him to keep a lock on the gun case at home. If Timothy could kill his wife, Billy can turn to him next.

Meanwhile, the sheriff learns that Mrs. Flynn had a cowslip in her hand when she died. And when they dig up one of the bodies, they see that the letter “B” is written on it. The sheriff wants to talk to Billy again, but it’s too late.

That night, Billy’s son finds his father’s hanging body, intestines hanging from his intestines. The rider in charge walks away before he can see who it is.

Meanwhile, Cornelia meets a scientist named Jenson on her way to Oklahoma. Suddenly someone hits him. A Native American man approaches, says he wants nothing to do with Cornelia, and drags Jenson’s body into his cart. The man claims that Jenson assaulted him where he shouldn’t have been.

Cornelia and the children continue their journey. A sausage man named Black-Eyed Mog and his two sons watch them from the edge of the cliff. They consider killing them and raiding the wagon, but decide to wait for a larger load.

John works for the Clarkes to pay off his debt. He finds a holster for the compass he gave to Cornelia. The Clarks stole it from the Mennonites. Eli gathers that the Clarkes are hucksters: people like Captain Clegg who clean up after sausages.

The other bushwhackers come to talk to John, who tells them that Clegg is dead. However, John hopes that he can force Eli to take him out.

Eli decides to take Cornelia’s money, leave, and track her down. He tells John that he has done enough to pay off his debt. But Katie disagrees; he shoots him with an arrow and he falls from his horse.

Cornelia encounters the Mennonites sooner than expected. They heard the kids were a problem and went back for them. So Cornelia gets the kids back, but also learns about the Clarks’ difficult nature. Fearing that Eli is in trouble, he leaves his cart and returns to their farm.

When he returned, Eli was gone. He gets into an argument with Cathy and ends up stabbing her in the gut. He then threatens John to give him his money and tell him where Eli is.

Meanwhile, at the Dead in the Water Bootleg Complex, Eli approaches a man. Stroking the bird’s skull, he introduces himself as the Waterkiller and demands that Elin tell him everything he knows about the massacre at Chalk River.

  Episode Review

While the slow pacing and convoluted set-up somewhat dampens the drama of this episode, several layers of intrigue add to the tension.

A battle was declared anonymously in Hoxham. Thomas Trafford is a con man, but he is the one behind Bill Myers’ death. He doesn’t like his hosts encroaching on what he considers his territory. The guts cut from Myers’s stomach are reminiscent of the fetuses cut from Trafford’s own cattle. One has to wonder when Trafford will get to him and if he is the Wyoming resident responsible for the death of Cornelia’s son or if he is connected to it.

If plans to kill like Cornelia, she has her hands full right now with plans to track down Eli. She may excel in her current situation with John, but the dangers for a single woman in this country are many.
