Firefly Lane Season 2
Episode No 6 Recap And Review
Firefly Lane Season 2 Episode 6 begins with Tully covering the Fourth of July for the AV club. He wants to keep doing it until it’s perfect, but Lisa thinks it’s a waste of film. Fortunately, he has Kate standing up for him and encouraging him to give it another shot.
After they finish filming, they go to Keith’s family’s Fourth of July party. Kate finally gets her first kiss and is disappointed that she is second choice to Eugene after Tully rejects her. He’s angry with Tully, and his anger is doubled when Lisa decides to talk about Tully and Sean sleeping together.
Kate isn’t the only one feeling blue at the party, Cloud is also having trouble dealing with the judgmental moms at the party. It gets worse when one of the married men at the party tries to pass on her. He rejects her and she insults him. He reaches his breaking point and chooses to drink. She gets drunk and flashes her breasts at a party. Although Kate is angry with Tully, she still helps Cloud get home and they reconcile.

Johnny and Kate plan to move into a loft together, but haven’t told Tully yet. They find someone they both like, and Kate promises to tell Tully later. On the other hand, Tully is busy preparing for the audition to be the weekend host and competes with Dan. He wants Keith to focus and help him.
Even though she’s in a situation with Dan (which isn’t technically a relationship!), she’s hoping he’ll be happy for her when she wins. Dan gets offered a job hosting a sports show, so he drops out and Tully takes the job by default.
Tully isn’t the only girl heartbroken at the office Fourth of July party, Kate and Johnny also have a difficult conversation. Although Kate knew Johnny was not in favor of marriage, she still assumed he would want children. He wants zero children and has no interest in being a father, while Kate wants four adorable little ones. Kate is shocked and heartbroken that she doesn’t want children. Johnny says that as long as they are in love, the future can figure itself out. Kate thinks they are too different and they break up

Tully feels closure after learning about her father, and her documentary special is an honest phenomenon. She convinces Kate to throw a Fourth of July party at her place to celebrate their independence. Kate is worried about the party, but since she has to pick up Mara from Johnny’s place, she doesn’t have time to party and get drunk with Tully.
At Johnny’s place, he notices that Charlie has the same haircut as Marah. He doesn’t think Johnny will come because the fireworks might go off, but he says he’s fine. His therapist advised him to socialize more and get into the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
At the Fourth of July party, Marah is worried about telling Ashley (her crush) how she feels. He hopes Ashley will show up at the party, but alas, no. Despite Kate’s protests, Tully gives her diamond earrings to cheer her up.
Kate is also not happy at the party as Charlie shows up in a skimpy outfit. Tully decides to help her make warmer clothes and she manages to get Johnny’s attention. The only problem is that Calvin is there and Kate accidentally (pretty sure doesn’t mean it) throws Charlie into the pool. At the end of the party, Johnny talks to Kate and confesses that he still loves her. They kiss and Kate finally gets her wish of being kissed under fireworks. They decide to get back together and Johnny takes Charlie home to tell him the bad news.
Unlike Kate, Tully has a crisis that is more difficult to fix. After her documentary special, she is having a hard time. He buys an expensive car for Cloud, but Cloud refuses to accept it. He decides to give the car to Keith as a gift, but he refuses. Cloud tells him that he saw what he was trying to do. He thought the documentary would fix him, but it didn’t, and now he’s looking for the next solution.
Tully lashes out at him and tells him he has no right to judge or advise him. He tells her that just because he helped her learn the truth about her father, it doesn’t mean she can start being a mother. Later, Tully confesses to Kate that she struggles and doesn’t feel independent. Kate tells him that her independence is stupid and that they still need each other.
Episode One week after the party, Tully is rushed to the ambulance. He tries to move to see someone and we see Mara being rushed to the emergency room and she’s passed out.
Episode Review
In the end, Johnny made up his mind, and hopefully this time they’ll stay together. They have a beautiful love story and yes, they have had their fair share of failures, but who knows, the second time might be the charm!
It’s understandable that Tully had such a hard time after learning the truth. Whoever said the truth will set you free must have been wrong. Sometimes the truth hurts and doesn’t heal you completely. I hope Tully and Cloud work on their relationship and heal together.
Now that we know Mara had an accident too, I can see why Kate says she can never forgive Tully. However, what exactly happened?
