Bungo Stray Dogs season 4 episode 8 Recap And Review

Episode Recap

Bungo Stray Dogs season 4 episode 8 ‘We Are Both Guilty’ begins with Chuuya attacking the Hounds and rescuing the Detectives in a helicopter. He tells them that Fukuzawa made a deal with Mori – in exchange for one of the detectives’ help in joining the Port Mafia. As Kunikida spirals, his ideals are questioned by Jono, Tetcho’s sword reaches the helicopter and stabs Kenji.

He uses it to land on the helicopter and is about to cut the blades when Kunikida comes out. He tells Tanizaki to handle it and heads out with Tetcho. He proves Jonah wrong, claiming he will still follow his high and just ideals, and uses a torn page from his notebook to detonate a hand grenade, capturing Tetcho.

Two days passed and Kyoka and Atsushi came out of Gogol’s hiding place. The streets are full of rumors that the Armed Intelligence Agency is corrupt, and Kyoka tells him to hide his face and get on the train and escape. He doesn’t know what to do next, but Atsushi refuses to let Fyodor win. Suddenly, he sees a vision of Dazai, who encourages him to continue fighting, and he decides to contact Oguri to clear the Agency’s name.

He plans to ask Francis Fitzgerald where Oguri is with the Eyes of God identification technology, but Kyoka doesn’t trust him. However, when they arrive at his office, they find Louise injured .

Meanwhile, Mori visits the remaining Detectives at his compound and tells them that he has no idea if Kunikida is alive or not. However, Dazai was arrested and was last seen at Public Security before he disappeared. At God’s Eye HQ, Atsushi tries to convince Francis to help him, but he says that if they really are framed, there’s no way to defeat Fyodor.

He tells her that while Fyodor is being held in a European prison for ability users, he gives his orders from there. While speaking, Francis touches a bloody pen left by Hawthorne and is imbued with his ability, and both he and Atsushi realize that he is going to die. In prison, Fyodor laughs because no one can use God’s Eyes now that Francis, the only one who can control it, is dead.

However, at the God’s Eye headquarters, Kyoka activates the sprinklers in time, which dilutes Hawthorne’s blood and prevents the pen from killing Francis. He tells her that someone texted him to turn on the sprinklers, and it turns out to be Dazai, the new inmate, facing Fyodor’s cell.

At the hospital, Ango predicts that if the operation is successful, it could take 40 hours for Taneda to wake up and reveal the truth. However, as he disagrees with Taneda’s plan to kill the angels instead of judging them, he decides to leave before the chief wakes up. He realizes that Taneda will do anything for peace and decides to kill the one who hurt him, including sacrificing himself.

In prison, Fyodor and Dazai joke around and give ridiculous answers before trying to figure out how the other communicates with the outside world. Dazai seems determined as he says he came to the prison to find out and eliminate Fyodor’s connection. Meanwhile, Atsushi fills Francis in on Oguri’s case. Francis agrees to help Yosano in exchange for reviving the comatose Margaret.

He says that he is the only one who can kill Hawthorne because he and Margaret have a special bond. Atsushi is disgusted that Francis is pitting old lovers against each other, but Kyoka reminds him that they need God’s Eyes. Francis shows them Margaret’s condition and reveals that her family is bankrupt. Atsushi is conflicted and decides to help because he can’t let Margaret or anyone else suffer.

They decide to take him to the Agency and hope that Yosano will help. However, at that moment, Yosano offends Mori as he claims that he only made the deal to help the agency because he wanted her. He doesn’t deny it and says he won’t mind if Fukuzawa chooses him. But in reality, Fukuzawa agreed on the condition that Mori not choose Yosano because he would not be able to bear being his assistant a second time.

At this point, Francis calls Mori and tells him about his deal with Atsushi. But Mori argues that this is a trap because the money-hungry Francis would have made more money if he had made a deal with the Blood Dogs rather than Atsushi, who is more powerful.

Episode Review

Looks like Demon Fyodor has finally met his match. If anyone can bring him down, it’s Dazai who is on the same wavelength as him. This was evident in the way he used Fyodor’s tactics to warn Kyoko and joked with him to let his guard down.

And okay, even though Mori is mean and breaks his promise to Fukuzawa despite being his peers, he does have a point. If viewers remember Francis and Guild from previous seasons, they were bad guys and pretty ruthless. But since Mori is also less than trustworthy, the bewildered detectives have no choice but to pretend they’re listening, since he’s at least the one who saved them.
