Firefly Lane Season 2

Episode No 2 Recap And Review

Firefly Lane season 2 episode 2 begins with Cloud knocking on the door of the house while it is raining heavily. She carries baby Tallulah in her arms and screams desperately for someone to let her in. A servant opens the house and tells him that there are no hosts. He apologizes and closes the door on Cloud. Cloud continues by saying that Tallulah is part of their family and they can’t ignore her forever.

In the present, Tully moves into a new apartment and tries to put the memories of Max and their short-lived marriage behind her. His elimination is officially over and he’s trying to forget his inferiority complex.

In another flashback, Tully and Kate sneak out and try to track down Tully’s father. With no money, they hitchhike to the town Tully found in her mother’s old belongings. According to Tully, her father was a bartender who worked with Cloud when she was pregnant. Tully is disappointed that he is not her father.

After Kate refuses to run away with Tully, the girls get into a big fight. Tully gets angry and calls him a fake friend before ending their friendship.

While being sued, Charlie makes an insulting comment about how Tully can afford the new apartment. Kate tells him that Tully is already planning her grand return and that she is not one to be underestimated. Charlie agrees and applauds Kate for always being Tully’s personal cheerleader, calling their friendship cute.

Marah interrupts this awkward moment when she walks into the kitchen looking for a torch. Johnny offers to help her and leaves Charlie and Kate alone. The two women talk about Johnny’s recovery and how Kate has been so supportive. Never one to miss, Charlie takes this chance to brag about her career and the high-profile men she’s dated.

In another flashback, Tully recalls covering a story in the 1980s about a guy named Benedict Binswanger who was running for governor. Benedict embarrasses her when she questions him. They have sex, but Dan tells her he doesn’t want a relationship. This shocks Tull because he’s the one who normally tells men this. Things take a turn for the worse when he shows up at her workplace the next day as a new reporter.

In the present day, Tully brainstorms with his agent about ways to stay out of the competition and get him back on TV. So far, things look bleak and Tully is feeling down.

Meanwhile, while taking Mara to school camp, Kate remembers the first time she and Johnny went on a road trip as a couple and how he confessed his love for her. However, this trip does not end as he expected. Johnny draws a clear line between them and says he has no plans to see her again.

On the other hand, Tully feels lonely, so she asks Cloud to move in with her. She confesses to him that she is not well and is still suffering from her miscarriage. She tells Cloud that she needs him because she doesn’t want to be alone. Cloud understands her and agrees to move in with her.

The episode ends with us learning that the man who opened the door for Cloud after he refused to leave the mansion was none other than Benedict Binswanger. She asks him to step out of the rain and come in with baby Tully.

  Episode Review

Kate had always been there for Tully, but it was unfair for Tully to ask her to run away with him. He knew it was asking too much, but he was angry and hurt, though that didn’t excuse his behavior. At the end of the day, Kate also had to consider her family, she can’t just up and leave because Tully asked her to.

It will be interesting to see how Benedikt Binswanger fits into Tully’s background. Is it his father? Is this why Cloud refuses to tell Tully who his father is?

Finally, Kate is right about Johnny acting strangely, he seems angry and defies any slight disturbance. Unfortunately, Kate is disappointed that she doesn’t want to get back with him. I think it’s a good thing that she doesn’t lead him on and get his hopes up. It’s tragic, but less painful.
