Trolley Korean New Series Season 1
Episode 2 Recap And REVIEW
Episode 2 of Trolley opens with a bombshell revealing that Ji-Hoon is pregnant with a young woman – Soo-Bin. Hye-Joo invites her in and she reveals that she is about 5 weeks pregnant. Apparently, he and Ji-Hun had been dating for a while and met through a mutual friend staying at Ji-Hun’s house. Given that Hye-joo finds disposable cups with lipstick stains in there, she checks it out.
Soo-Bin was also at the funeral parlor but didn’t sign the guest book because she didn’t think it was right. Suddenly he declares that he wants to stay with them considering that he has nowhere else to stay.
Hye-Joo brings Yeo-Jin over to question the girl. Now that she has no phone and no pictures of them together, and no relatives, there are definitely flaws in Soo-Bin’s story. She is also not sure if there will be a baby.
Meanwhile, Assemblyman Kang checks the news and sees details about Ji-Hun. He scoffs at how Joong-Do allowed this to leak, believing him to be unfit to run for office. In fact, there are calls to resign, pointing to the abuse of resources, including many malicious comments. Of course, this all stems from Ji-Hoon’s alleged drug use.
Joong-Do investigates and finds out through his sources that Ji-Hoon’s blood is negative for illegal drugs. In addition, his blood alcohol level was at the level of acute intoxication. Not close enough for him to just fall off the edge and into the river. Maybe Joong-Do is out of touch after all, because he seems genuinely concerned when he learns that Ji-Hoo was caught on a nearby camera while leaving the bathroom after taking drugs and using his burner phone.
Joong-Do throws himself into his work, continues to meet with other counselors, drinks copious amounts of alcohol, and puts on a brave face. Even though deep down you can tell he’s hurt – even more so when you see the comments online.
After drinking too much, Joong-Do is brought back home, where Ji-Hoo has an even bigger headache from her pregnancy. Hye-Joo tries to convince her husband to let the girl stay, empathizing with Soo-Bin’s story because she is going through the same thing herself. He knows what it’s like to be alone and have nowhere else to go. He was her age when Yoon-Seo was.
Inside the house, Joong-Do questions Soo-Bin, but unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse. Soo-Bin decides that if she has an abortion, she will visit the news and tell everyone about the big scandal involving the Assemblyman’s son. When Yoon-Seo arrives, she immediately questions Soo-Bin’s motives, though the latter is certain that Ji-Hoon is not drugged.
The whole ordeal sends the family flying, Yoon-Seo leaves in a hurry, while Soo-Bin is allowed to stay for the time being. In Ji-Hoon’s room no less! While there, Hye-Joo talks to Soo-Bin in private and learns that it was consensual and that Ji-Hun didn’t force himself on her.
As for Woo-Jae (Joong-Do’s Senior Advisor), he’s all set for the upcoming election and has a bunch of theories about how they can turn this Soo-Bin situation around in their favor. Back at home, Joong-Do has his wife test Soo-Bin for drugs and alcohol to make sure she isn’t volatile or could be used against them.
In the morning, Joong-Do gets up and gets ready for work. Unfortunately, he is cornered by several journalists who show up with cameras and question him about drugs and the police. Hye-Joo immediately comes out and hysterically begins to remember how she got involved, convincing Joong-Do to investigate. Joong-Do brings his wife back inside, but promises the reporters that he will make an official statement later.
Unfortunately, the footage ends up in the news, but Jo Gwi-Soon – the old lady Hye-Jin visits at the funeral home – sees it first hand. He hears reporters talking bad about his grandson and Hye-Ju, and rushes in. Gwi-Soon notes that Assemblyman Nam and his wife came to pay their respects even before the news of Ji-Hoon’s death was known.
That night, Joong-Do leads the news and gives an exclusive interview about what happened to Ji-Hun and Yoon-Seo. He points out that he couldn’t find her and that he made the wrong choice as an emotional parent after 12 hours. Not only is there an apology, but Joong-Do breaks down in tears, revealing the truth about Gwi-Seol’s grandson’s death and how the prosecution in the case failed to properly investigate it.
He points to damning statistics on digital violence and promises to reorganize and strengthen legislation as a result.
Joong-Do speaks directly to the citizens at home, telling them that the last gift his son gave him was the opportunity to help the less fortunate and do what he thought was right. He will address this and strengthen legislation to ensure that those responsible are severely punished. Joong-Do decided to use his personal tragedy as a driver to step forward and do the right thing.
As a result, public sentiment is rapidly shifting in their favor. It turns out that Joong-Do didn’t know that his wife was attending the same funeral because he arrived after attending another funeral next door.
Following this, the police arrive to arrest the boy Seung-Kye, who is responsible for blackmailing that poor dead girl. The thing is, she has been subjected to terrible abuse online, with many calling for her death. As a result, when the police came, he committed suicide by jumping from the window of his high-rise apartment. However, he leaves a message saying, “Murderer: Nam Joong-Do”.
Episode Review
Every action has a consequence, and in this case, the pendulum swings in Joong-Do and Hye-Joo’s favor…but temporarily. This ending hints that Joong-Do’s pleas to stop the crime will have big consequences.
There’s definitely something fishy about this whole Ji-Hoon situation, though. At first, it seemed like Joong-Do planted the drug on his estranged son to improve his political campaign — considering he didn’t even meet him when he got out of prison — but now it seems it’s going deeper than that.
If those shady players in the National Assembly are anything to go by, it could be either Assemblyman Kang or even Woo Jin-Seok who planted drugs to expose and discredit Joong-Do’s campaign.
Such political changes—radical ones—are often met with scrutiny and, in some cases, violence. While I’m not saying Joong-Do will face a JFK-esque assassination, given Joong-Do’s willingness to be tough on crime and stir up a lot of crime, the parallels between the two are worth seeing. officials along the way.
The situation with Soo-Bin is also interesting and it will be interesting to see what role she plays in all of this. It has the air of Sky Castle in the way it’s planted in a family and set to disrupt the dynamic, but we’ll have to wait and see. For now, another strong episode wraps things up nicely, leaving a tantalizing prospect for next week’s double bill.
