The Rookie: Feds season 1 episode 15 Recap And Review

Episode Recap

The Rookie: Feds season 1 episode 15 opens with a man who looks like he’s already been tortured. Later, after pleading with his killer, he was shot and killed. Carter then goes to see his nurse lover Fort in the hospital with a head injury. Unfortunately, Fortune is paged and has to go back to work.

Meanwhile, Simone is at home with her father and she brings a locked box from the garage and asks her father to open it. Her father is angry with Simona for bringing the box from the garage. Cutty demands that Simone take it back. Just then, Simone gets a work call and she has to leave.

Brendon and Simone talk as they go to the crime scene. Simone tells Brendon about the box that her father is mad about. At the scene of the murder, the group is told that the murdered man is an investment banker who died six years ago. Simone wonders why the man looks like he was killed hours ago.

Apparently, his wife Vanessa was convicted of his murder in 2016 and sentenced to 6 years in prison. The man’s name is Paul Morrisson and he faked his own death six years ago.

Carter and Simon are tasked with calling his close relative, his sister Donna. Paul’s sister confirms to the team that they even had a funeral for him. She then tells them that Vanessa asked to see her son two weeks ago, and when she asked her son if he had seen his father, he sounded like he was crazy.

Carter and Simone are sent to arrest Vanessa as she is their prime suspect. In the car, Carter realizes that Simone has been quiet for a long time, and Simone tells him that her heart is broken for Sam. Sammy had to face the fact that his mother was in prison for killing his father.

They catch up with Vanessa, who has violated parole and is going to her son’s practice game. They take him into custody and interrogate him in his office. He’s not sad that Paul is dead, but he has an alibi and it’s clear he didn’t kill him. He also adds that before Paul faked his death, he was involved in a shady business.

Brandon then goes to the lab to pick up some papers for Antoinette. He finds a clue in the victim’s clothing, which leads them to a parking lot slip. Surveillance footage from the parking lot shows Paul abducted an hour before he was found dead.

Elsewhere, three men find a box while digging up Paul’s old grave. A man opens the box and takes out a dollar, saying that Paul lied to him. Just then, a security guard arrives and questions them about their activities. The person in charge shoots him and says it’s not personal. Then the two men throw it into the empty tomb and they all leave.

Antoinette then uncovers new evidence that leads them to an undertaker who has created false identities. Paul saw her a few hours before she died. Brandon and Laura find the undertaker trying to burn the evidence and he tries to escape. They chase down the undertaker and arrest him, but he refuses to reveal the identity he gave him unless he agrees with Pau.

Garza learns that there was a shootout at the cemetery and that the man was shot with the same gun that killed Paul. They are waiting for the man to come out of surgery so they can interview him and identify his shooter. Meanwhile, Vanessa is free and she can start life as a free person. Simone puts her in touch with Cutty, who begins to help her get her life back on track.

Brandon offers to help Antoinette make a video for the bureau, but they argue over it because Brandon is too focused on what she wants.

Carter goes to see Fortune at the hospital and they plan to go on a date. Fortune hints that her experience with a certain sick child in the hospital made her consider having children. Carter tells her he has a son so she can understand.

But he’s a bit confused because he just got a call from his ex-wife. She wants to move out of L.A. and take her son with her. He says he’s called to work and checks the rain on his date.

The next morning. Garza then becomes completely familiar with the team and reveals the new identity of Paul Morrisson. According to his identity, whose name is Nicholas Jones, he is married but has no children. Laura and Brendon are sent to talk to his wife and friends who may be in contact with Paul.

Laura and Brandon visit Paul’s second wife, who says she knows nothing about Paul’s past. She claims they met four years ago and finds it hard to believe she faked his death.

Cutty and Simone play dice and Cutty gives Simone the key to the box where she kept the letters her mother sent her while she was in prison and the scarf she wore.

  Episode Review

It breaks my heart to think that so many like Vanessa and Cutty have been let down by the justice system. Their lives fall apart and they have to pick up the pieces and start all over again.

Brandon, on the other hand, is messed up and I’m so glad that Laura has some advice on what to do to fix it.

I’m also glad that Carter’s ex-wife decided to stay in Los Angeles, allowing him to be closer to his sons. He is working hard to be a better father and I believe he deserves to be there for his children.
