Outer Banks season 2 episode 1 Honest Review And Detailed Recap

Episode Recap

Outer Banks season 2 episode 1 opens with Papa and the gang still convinced that Sarah and John B died in the storm. They are understandably upset, spray-painting the walls of Ward’s property.

Outraged at the obvious lies, JJ is forced to listen to all these Kooks calling John B a workplace killer. Eventually, she tells everyone that Rafe is the real killer, which leads to her being fired for her efforts. Just after that, JJ destroys the flowerbeds as one last F-U.

However, John B and Sarah are very much alive and on a boat bound for the Bahamas. However, those on board find the Wanted poster and decide to turn them in at Nassau in consideration of a $50,000 reward. The ship’s captain, Terrance, locks them inside the ship and calls the authorities at the port.

John B and Sarah are well prepared for this and hide through the window. They live in the market and escape from the captives for the time being. Sarah decides to hide in plain sight and takes John B to a 5 star hotel to hide out. When they are together, John B promises that he will not go looking for gold.

Meanwhile, Papa, Kiara, and JJ return to school and try to avoid the suspicious eyes of all the attendees. John B sends the group a photo confirming that they’re still alive, which he manages to intercept courtesy of the cameraman’s phone. However, that doesn’t change the fact that John B and Sarah are still trying to evade capture for as long as possible.

It inevitably goes wrong as Sarah realizes that John B is lying. When John B returns and realizes things are starting to unravel, he is caught and taken to the boss.

She is also picked up by a girl named Cleo, who brings Sarah from the boat to the men. John B is a bit rude as he tries his best to get out of this situation. To do this, they are forced to negotiate with them to wait. John B eventually gives up the land for the rest of the gold.

In a really bad situation, JJ, Papa and Kiera do everything they can to clear John B’s name. After tricking Gavin’s car, they make a call and admit that they know what’s going on at the airstrip, leaving him stunned.

As they predicted, he gets into his car as the group watches from a distance. He calls Ward and asks to renegotiate his salary. He wants a triple and a plane, it turns out Gavin kept the gun used to kill the officer for leverage. He knew this would happen, and in the end they agreed to meet immediately.

Meanwhile, John B enters Sarah’s place to find the gold. Only, security comes suddenly. Terrance tricks Sarah and John B, locking them in and scaring them.

Thankfully, the couple managed to get away by separating to avoid the authorities. Terrance, Stubbs, and Cleo grab the keys and leave as John B tries to cross the rooftops. Meanwhile, John B finds himself in prison.

  Episode Review

The Outer Banks is back and the series is off to a promising start with plenty of drama, action and new characters to draw. With a tip to John B’s head, it’s perhaps a little surprising that more people in Nassau don’t know him, but that’s not much of a hindrance to this speedy opening.

Instead, the show thrives on its solid character dynamics and simple yet enjoyable story. It remains to be seen exactly how this will be handled in the future, as Cameron still captures John B and Sarah as kidnappers.

Anyway, JJ, Papa, and Kiera know the couple is still alive, so there’s at least one bright side to what’s been a pretty trying experience for them.

With an entire episode suddenly available in true Netflix fashion, we’ll have to wait and see what it has in store for us next.
